About This Item
Description: The printed text of the document is mostly faded and at first glance we took it to be an attorney’s certificate of admission to the Supreme Court Bar. However, on further examination, there is no space for an admittee’s name, but there are two signatures for the Clerk of the Supreme Court. We’ve noted that the Clerk’s office changed in 1880 from D.W. Middleton to J.H. McKenney, both of who signed the document. Possibly this is the document naming the new clerk? We’d welcome any insight or suggestions.
